Dominik Borkowski

De jonge Poolse schilder Dominik Borkowski schildert portretten welke meestal zeer minimalistisch zijn opgezet in een grijs, zwart en wit pallet. In plaats van de complexiteit van de menselijke psyche wordt het portret canon gebruikt om de leegte te laten zien. De individuele en biografische kenmerken zijn uitgewist. De motieven met een kinderlijke beeldtaal en de stripboek-achtige elementen staan in contrast met het gewicht van zijn ervaring en het pessimisme van de boodschap. Het leest eerder als een commentaar op de hedendaagse maatschappij en een fascinatie voor schijnbare onvolmaaktheid. Borkowski doet verslag van de emotionele beleving van de werkelijkheid en het leven van alledag. -Wandelen met zijn hond Velvet, vissen, werken in zijn atelier-.

The young Polish painter Dominik Borkowski paints portraits which are usually very minimalist set up in a gray, black and white palette. The individual and biographical characteristics are obliterated. Instead of showing the complexity of the human psyche, the portrait canon is used to show the emptiness. The motifs with childlike imagery and the comic book-like elements are in contrast with the weight of his experience and the pessimism of the message. It reads more like a commentary on contemporary society and a fascination with apparent imperfection. 2013 | The theme of expressing the daily life experiences are expanded and more possitive in his new works. Becoming a father made him both conscience and concerned about the vulnarability of life.
